Help us build a best-in-class team of In-Home Delivery Drivers and OTR Transportation-CDL Drivers and expand our fleet of company-owned vehicles to support our expanding, coast-to-coast network of retail stores.

Scandinavian Designs has been in business since 1963. We are developing our own fleet of CDL and Delivery Drivers as we grow NATION WIDE.
The Director of Transportation will be responsible overseeing all aspects of the Transportation department, including implementing best practices and procedures. This position will be responsible for sourcing equipment, fuel contracts, hotel contracts, overseeing maintenance, creating routes, and supporting all phases of in-house delivery process and long-haul while ensuring the best and most efficient operation possible. This position will require absolute attention to detail and an above reproach commitment to protecting highly confidential information. This position interacts regularly with all levels of the organization and ensures a professional and customer centered service approach for the entire department. This role is at our Boise, ID headquarters and this a non-remote position.
What You Will Do
- Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the in-house delivery process with other company counterparts.
- Oversees all in-house deliveries.
- Manages a fleet of trucks for long haul and local haul.
- Manages fleets services, setup.
- Coordinates routes for delivery.
- Hire/Train drivers for in-house delivery.
- Maintains DOT and all required paperwork for the company updated by partnering with HR and other departments as required.
- Act as customer service for teams that are in the field.
- Resolves all delivery damage with customers and warehouses.
- Coordinate in-house merchandise transfers between facilities
- Oversees supplies.
- Handle branding of vehicles and maintain graphics.
- Coordinate the shipping of eComm in store zones via the in-house deliveries.
- Regularly assess all logistics options to ensure optimum efficiency at all times.
- Expand and grow in-house delivery business across the company’s platform. This Expansion will be prioritized based on where the greatest efficiencies can be realized.
- Perform other special projects or duties when required.
Who You Are
- Experienced and an expert with:
- DOT regulations
- Hiring, training and retaining in-home delivery drivers
- Crafting routes and measuring cost per route
- Leading a team of +150 drivers on the road
- Handle branding of vehicles and maintain graphics.
- Coordinate the shipping of eComm in store zones via the in-house deliveries.
- Regularly assess all logistics options to ensure optimum efficiency at all times.
- Expand and grow in-house delivery business across the company’s platform. This Expansion will be prioritized based on where the greatest efficiencies can be realized.
- Perform other special projects or duties when required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Willing to hop on the delivery truck for both ride-along evaluations and deliver in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to drivers and delivery.
- Proficient with many different types of technology.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.
- Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
