Job Description
The Director, Sales and Business Development position entails managing all aspects of selling product, building and maintaining internal and external relationships, negotiating contracts, managing a sales staff and executing a sales plan. Responsible for activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating new and existing customer contracts, setting sales objectives, developing pricing strategies, reporting on progress, and maintaining a good working relationship with the plant personnel and customer service. This position is considered a working Director. Relies on experience, performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent work experience required
- 10+ years senior sales management experience
- Excellent Negotiation skills with the ability to listen
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills
- Strong MS Office Skills
- Positive Attitude with the ability to Multi-task
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic
- Previous supervisory experience, strong facilitation, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written)
- Experience managing wholesale grocery business
Essential Functions:
- Establish both market and customer strategies for the sales region
- Provide effective people and sales process leadership for the sales team to achieve aggressive revenue targets optimized across existing client growth and new customer acquisition
- Manage annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the agreed strategies
- Develop an annual Sales Plan and provide regular updates, revisions and modifications to the plan
- Mange all aspects of P&L Budgeting and performance against specific plans
- Coordinate the specific objectives of the Sales Plan with all of the necessary functional departments
- Develop a talent roadmap that includes the selection, onboarding and development of top talent and ensures ready-successors to leadership positions
- Develop pricing and merchandising strategies for customer segments and channel partners
- Set revenue targets and manage both productivity and efficiency within the sales force.
- Develop and maintain senior level client relationships in key accounts and network with high potential prospects and clients
- Define and manage the monthly and annual sales objectives for the team’s sales personnel
- Manage the overall sales process by developing and motivating the team
- Perform management functions in the area of pipeline development and sales forecasting
- Identifying and removing barriers to achieving goals
- Engage with strategic account executive management to create and develop client loyalty and increase revenue
- Must be willing to travel to support business needs as necessary.
