Summary Job Description:

The Director or Residential Programming performs highly responsible administrative duties in overseeing and coordinating the operation of the residential units in the RTC Program.   He/she supports the Vice President in all aspects of overseeing the residential component of the program.   The Director or Residential Programming is responsible for the development implementation of programming for residents of the RTC cottages with the goal of improving their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills while planning for a safe discharge.  Ensures compliant documentation and that services are delivered in accordance with RTC Program Manual.    

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the three Residential Coordinators 
  • Ensures that the Cottage Supervisors and Coordinators arrange for coverage that is compliant with staffing ratios.  
  • Assists the Residential Coordinators with the training and mentoring of childcare staff. 
  • Ensures that residential staff attend all training in accordance with requirements, including TCI training.  
  • Enforces agency policy by providing supervision, support, and direction to staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Provides input to the Coordinators and Cottage Supervisors about staff’s performance. Performance feedback may be used to provide additional training and supervision, provide input into the employee performance evaluation and/or support notices of discipline.
  • Liaison to HR department regarding residential personnel matters. Ensures that residential timesheets are submitted on time.  
  • Assists Coordinator and Cottage Supervisors in monitoring the effectiveness of program and takes immediate corrective action when issues of concern arise. This includes addressing the immediate problem and making recommendations for systemic changes that may be needed. 
  • Helps childcare workers and all staff develop sensitivity and awareness of youth’s needs, including the separation and loss experienced by RTC youth.
  • Ensures that our care is strengths-based and trauma informed.  
  • Supports the Coordinators and Cottage Supervisors with the monitoring of all systems within the cottage including but not limited to key control, log documentation, incident report follow-up, and debriefing with staff, radio assignments, trip approvals, youth chore lists, telephone calls, search procedures, inventories, and laundry schedules. 
  • Serves as a liaison between the recreation department, staff, and youth to ensure that recreational programming is planned, structured and the schedules are followed as written.
  • Is familiar with youth’s behavior and is prepared to communicate any pertinent information to the Treatment Team.
  • Ensures that the allowances are collected and distributed properly and documented accurately.
  • Reviews and assesses the need for supplies, equipment, and materials for each cottage; maintains records and prepares reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring that cottages are kept consistently clean and well maintained and meet OCFS standards.  
  • Ensures compliance with Justice Center requirements surrounding reporting and safety plans.  

 

Special Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or four years of experience working with children/adolescents with emotional/ behavioral disturbances.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
