Job Description
We are assisting a client in Mobile, AL on a Managing Director of Operations opportunity. The Managing Director of Operations is responsible for all company operations Incumbent directly supervises the Director of Logistics, Routing and Delivery; and the Director of Operations Systems including, but not limited to, leading, coaching and developing Warehouse and Delivery Managers in support of the General Managers. Provides strategic direction for logistics and operations management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Management
- Strong understanding and experience of developing and managing metric orientated logistics/warehousing/inventory management processes and the ability to measure, analyze, improve and control and take ownership of the processes.
- A member of the senior management team helping to guide the organization strategically so that assets and relationships are leveraged to maximize return on investment. Takes the information back to the team to implement various initiatives in all locations.
- Intimate knowledge of the P&L of each company as well as the customer base, suppliers, and potential new business to help GMs achieve an appropriate operating budget.
- A strong understanding of pricing, route analysis, and VIP to assist in the details with GMs, Warehouse Managers, Delivery Managers and Sales Managers.
- Knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies.
- Ensures adequate back up support for all operation functions region wide.
- Ensures all standard operating procedures are communicated and followed in all locations in support of the GMs, Warehouse Managers, Delivery Managers and Sales Managers.
- Develops and assists GMs, Warehouse Managers, Delivery Managers and Sales Managers with procedures for new projects/work added to the company portfolio.
- Man-hours, receiving and loading procedures, hiring, cleanliness, breakage, inventory control, maintenance and regulatory requirements
- Oversee implementation of facilities, delivery, and employee safety and training programs in compliance with OSHA standards
- Ensure that distribution facilities, delivery drivers, and other employees adhere to OSHA standards
- Implement and maintain disaster plans for each location
- Provide strategic direction to warehouse management to ensure a seamless look across all companies
- Ensure operational cohesion between delivery, warehousing, and sales development of common incentives that have mutually beneficial goals
- Analyze all warehouse expenditures on a monthly basis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics Management
- Minimum of five years of experience in Logistics and Transportation Management
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of VIP or similar software package.
- Highly organized, detail oriented.
