Killington/Pico Mountain Resort is a ski resort in Rutland County, VT, in the town of Killington. It is the largest ski area in the eastern U.S. with over 200 trails, 21 lifts, and 1,500+ acres of skiable terrain. It's also home to the largest vertical drop in New England.Opening in 1958, Killington/Pico has a long history embedded in the ski industry. Killington is home to the U.S. World Cup tour hosted on Thanksgiving weekend that draws hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators.
Killington/Pico is nicknamed "Beast of the East" and we work diligently on living up to the name. Operating 365 days a year, Killington/Pico is home to skiing, snowboarding, an 18-hole golf course, mountain biking, a mountain coaster, zip lines, and other year-round activities.

Job Summary:
As part of the resort leadership team reporting to the President, the Director of Human Resources will direct and execute all Human Resources management functions and services for Killington/Pico including employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, recruiting, retaining, developing and training staff and the implementation of programs initiatives aligned with resort strategy and compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a trusted "thought leader" in defining, aligning, and delivering a long-term vision and strategy for enterprise talent programs, recommending and overseeing the implementation of future-focused HR processes, policies and practices that deliver on strategic business objectives
  • Inspires trust, serves as a strategic advisor, and builds strong relationships with senior stakeholders; develops and presents recommendations for talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, and all other HR deliverables
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention
  • Oversees forecasts, budgets, resources, and initiative performance in areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for compensation analysis throughout the business; adjusting as needed based on trending market data
  • Designs and implements HR programs, structures, processes and technology; accountable for successful completion of approved initiatives, on time and within budget
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates the return on investment, return on expectations, and effectiveness of HR programs in areas of responsibility; makes modifications to maintain value and relevancy
  • Establishes clear expectations for risk mitigation and issues escalation related to all employment practices; receives escalations, coaches and councils' leaders and direct reports, makes decisions, strategizes/takes action to reach resolutions and escalates further as necessary
  • Adopts a growth mindset with a focus on continues improvement; looks for opportunities to create efficiencies and add value based on the Company's unique workforce needs
  • Monitors external trends best practices in Human Resources/Talent Management to promote an outside-in view of the talent landscape
  • Stays abreast of changes in laws, regulations, policies, and programs relevant to employee relations and employment practices, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and Company policies
  • Creates and/or amends Human Resources policies and processes as business or legislative changes requires
  • Provides leadership and direction to leaders and direct reports to ensure executional excellence and strong compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and Company policies and procedures
  • Invests time in coaching, mentoring, supporting, and developing team members to achieve desired performance and career outcomes
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or other related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in the HR field required
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Excellent interviewing skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of company personnel, as well is job applicants, outside firms and government agencies
  • SHRM-CP and/or HRCI PHR certification desired

Work Location:
  • On-site

Work Schedule:
  • Killington/Pico is open 7 days a week, including holidays
  • This position will work with their Leadership and HR team to ensure there is appropriate coverage at the resort
