Director of HIV and Outreach Services

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Director of HIV and Outreach Services for The Health Center at Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. Faith Mission is one of the largest homeless shelters in Columbus, Ohio, providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion.

REQUIREMENTS for a Director of HIV and Outreach Service with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Preferred licensure includes: LISW-S, LICDC, LPCC or licensure in related field.
  • Minimum four years working in a social service setting required.
  • Experience working with the following or related populations: unstable housing, behavioral health, substance use disorder, HIV/AIDS
  • Proficient use of computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including group facilitation skills required.

RESPONSIBILITIES for a Director of HIV and Outreach Services with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Administrative

    • Assure that grant funds are appropriately allocated within the HIV and Outreach department per grant requirements
    • Conduct the gathering and analysis of data and submit regular reporting updates to grant funders and governing bodies, including SAMHSA and HRSA
    • Gather information on potential resources for clients in the larger community, creating working relationships and disseminating information
    • Evaluating program outcomes that correlate with the goals of the HIV Minority Initiative project narrative
    • Implement an outreach strategy and maintain a regular outreach schedule, including coordinating and networking among local community partners
    • Assist with policy and protocol development within the HIV/Outreach department
    • Provide specialized and clinically oriented trainings to staff
    • Maintain existing and grow new and existing relationships with collaborative community partners
    • Coordinate, oversee, and evaluate outreach events
    • Facilitate and ensure a comprehensive harm reduction model for all HIV and Outreach programs
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Supportive Services

    • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic and biopsychosocial assessments for clients at the health center
    • Provide ongoing counseling and behavioral health services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, in addition to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
    • Maintain complete and accurate documentation relating to the client's chart and treatment plan
    • Provide formal, individual supervision as appropriate for program staff that will ensure professional development and provide orientation, training, and coaching that will enhance the ethical, confidential, and respectful delivery of services to clients
    • Assign case load to case management staff
    • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation by providing leadership and by modeling professional and calm problem-solving behavior for clients, colleagues and the community.
    • In conjunction with the Director of Clinical and Supportive Services and The Health Center Director, provide supervision to student interns to enhance their educational experience by providing quality field instruction
    • Assure appropriate and accurate documentation among Outreach staff
    • Refer clients to partner agencies and community resources that benefit their short-and long-term goals as appropriate
    • Other duties as assigned
