This position earns a competitive salary of $110,000 - $130,000/year. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
As a Director of Finance, you are responsible for protecting the assets of the casino. You manage all the financial information for the casino and the travel center. Additionally, you oversee the revenue audit, count team, purchasing, and cage departments. Leveraging your top-notch analytical skills, you develop plans, options, budgets, forecasts, financial results, and other reports to help guide management decisions and strategies.
With attention to accuracy and the integrity of data, you conduct and review analyses and audits of accounting activities. You identify areas for improvement and implement those improvements, ensuring adherence to company guidelines. With confidence, you recommend policies and courses of action based on the financial information you have uncovered. You engage your love of details by participating in the preparation of year-end work papers for audit. You ensure all accounting and audit tax records and reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner. You also direct and assist with the preparation of any financial reports.
Your leadership skills come into play as you select, mentor, and develop the casino's finance team including the staff of accounting, revenue audit, purchasing, payroll, and the count team. You assist in leading the management team in the formulation of short- and long-term fiscal strategies. You also assist the general manager to develop options for the board of directors on operating matters as well as possible business expansion opportunities. Never satisfied with the status quo, you are always looking for ways to improve our performance. You work to ensure compliance with IGRA, tribal gaming regulations, and FinCEN requirements. Eager to learn and improve your own knowledge, you participate regularly in continuing education and apply the latest best practices to your work.
You are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of accounting. Your knowledge of computerized key tracking report systems, MICROD foot, and computerized banking applications are critical to your success in this role. You also have a working knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices (GAAP) as well as state, federal, and local laws. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
- 5+ years of experience in general accounting including audits and cash management
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Proficiency in using Excel and spreadsheets
- Valid Oregon driver's license
- Willingness to submit to a drug screening and background check upon hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain a high-security gaming license
- 21+ years of age
A master's degree or public accountant certification is preferred. Previous casino experience would be a plus. Is your attention to detail exceptional?
