We are currently seeking a hands-on Director of Network Engineering to join our industry-leading team in the Bay Area. We are a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company with massive upside opportunities. The primary responsibility of the position will be to build a team to support a service provider, cutting-edge network supporting Wi-Fi service delivery. This position will work collaboratively with multiple business units and levels across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee service provider grade LAN & WLAN in the Bay area at over 45 locations
- Build team to support LAN & WLAN in the Bay area with 24 x 7 operations
- Create scope of work and communicate expectations for structured cabling low voltage installers to assist in LAN/ WLAN deployment activities
- Interface with A & E firms for construction drawings in pursuit of venue owner approval for deployment
- Knowledge of ANSI/ TIA/ EIA standards and ability to oversee Commscope Uniprise structured cabling installation and upkeep.
- Interface with Mobilitie NOC for monitoring, alerting, and reporting activities
- Meet with customers regarding LAN/ WLAN performance and to discuss maintenance activities
- Utilize Service Now for break/fix ticket tracking, maintenance tasks, and to follow change management procedure
- Hands on Cisco device administration
- Hands on HPE Aruba WLAN administration
- Lead team in break/fix on-site support as applicable in the Bay area
- Oversee off-hours change management maintenance windows as necessary
- Track inventory of installed equipment and assist in SmartNet contract management
- Manage spares inventory
- Manage deployment projects with current project management methods
- Identify LAN/WLAN performance issues, propose and implement solutions
- Ensure enforcement of information security best practices to maintain network integrity
- Bachelor's Degree required from accredited university; Computer Science or Computer Information Systems preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in managing/ administering complex Cisco networks
- Minimum of three (3) years hands on lab experience trialing networking components, features, and systems
- Experience managing a small technical team
- Understanding of OSI 7-Layer Model with competence to apply that knowledge to troubleshooting methodologies
- Knowledge of standard networking protocols and applications such as DHCP, DNS, IP Routing (BGP, IS-IS), TCP/IP, IPv6, HTTP/S, and load balancing
- Cisco CCNP certification is preferred
- Understanding of security protocols such as IPSEC, eVPN, GRE, EAP, PEAP, SSL, TLS, 802.1x
- Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to distill technical topics and present them to customer stakeholders
- Superior organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Thrives on new technical challenges and seeks to find new ways to solve problems in the marketplace
- Self-starter that can manage and prioritize day to day activities and plan to address long-term needs
- Linux, VMware, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, Ansible, Splunk experience preferred

The starting base pay for this role is between $155,000 and $170,000. Starting base pay is to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
