The New York Mets, a world-class sports and entertainment company, is searching for a Director of Internal Communications to join the communications team.

Summary:

The Director of Internal Communications is a new position and will have oversight for all internal communications for the organization including major company announcements, leadership messages, intranet, day-to-day employee messaging and all-hands events/Zooms. The Director is a highly proactive, responsive, detail-oriented, and analytical thinker comfortable in a high-profile role and fast-paced environment. They are passionate about sports and are skilled in quickly synthesizing complex business and industry issues and concepts into relevant and compelling communications for a variety of audiences.

The Director will work both independently and directly with senior leaders and other stakeholders on a variety of topics and will need an inquisitive mind to not only quickly develop a working understanding of the latest company and industry developments, but also understand how they affect employees in diverse roles across the organization. They are passionate about great writing and content to produce communications that align with the New York Mets brand voice and strategy, throwing aside jargon or "corporate speak" to build a real connection with our employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Proactively manage day-to-day communications needs for senior leadership team including internal communications and events
  • Develop and execute editorial calendar for leadership communications and various internal milestones throughout the season
  • Develop a keen understanding of the New York Mets voice and apply it throughout communications
  • Oversee editorial content and engagement for new employee intranet
  • Support internal communications for major company announcements, initiatives, and various departments as needed
  • Identify and execute integrated storytelling and content development opportunities for internal audiences
  • Drive the organizational approach as an employer of choice and map out strategy for best places to work
  • Develop cadence and strategy to leverage social channels such as LinkedIn and GlassDoor
  • Oversee how our mission, vision and values come to life
  • Work will in highly matrixed organization in partnership with HR, external communications and other departments
  • Handle internal crisis communications and incident/crisis preparedness
  • Play a significant role in shaping the development agenda for employees in partnership with HR and Point 72
  • Bring creative ideas, innovation, new uses technology and engagement measurement to the organization


Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing and/or other communications related fields; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Seven previous years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or government/public affairs
  • Candidates who successfully pass the interview stage must demonstrate strong written communication skills through a work sample exercise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in speechwriting and writing for senior executives
  • Project management / communication campaign experience
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail while providing exceptional customer service with little supervision
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with discretion
  • Creativity with an eye for detail and design


Preferred experience and qualifications:
  • Track record in overseeing internal communications and creating engaging content for employee audience.
  • 7-10 years in communications

Salary Range:
$154,924.88 - $206,566.50
