General Summary
Creates, implements, manages and assesses a comprehensive communications plan to assist the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation reach its philanthropic goals. Key member of the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation partnering with the Senior Directors of Development, the Director of Development Creative Communications, and the Director of Annual Giving to develop compelling written communication that advances prospect and donor engagement.Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
- Works collaboratively with team members to execute and guide a successful and integrated communication program that strategically targets all levels of giving as defined by the Development leadership team. Ensures donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support for the University of Maryland Medical Center.
- Acts as a liaison and specialist to major gift officers to provide cultivation and stewardship communications assistance to individual donors and prospects.
- Works with the Director of Creative Development Communications to develop and implement strategic communications in multiple mediums in a timely fashion. This will include, but is not be limited to, content for social media, donor publications, e-blasts, year-end-reminders, stewardship reports, gift acknowledgements, web pages, invitations, newsletter updates, and fundraising campaign materials.
- Coordinates with team members on the creation, production, and use of any campaign-related communications templates including proposals, stewardship letters, newsletters, personalized communication.
- Ensures all activities are properly tracked in Raiser's Edge, as appropriate.
- Works closely with Development staff to report to donors on the use of gifts.
- Directs and manages the performance of any assigned staff, including, hiring, firing, disciplining, training & development, and performance review. Establishes standards of performance and productivity and determines staffing needs.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Three years of communication experience is required.
- Proven success stewarding and cultivating donors.
- Demonstrated event communications experience from inception to completion, specifically related to donor cultivation and stewardship preferred.
- Previous management experience which demonstrates ability to multi-task while supporting the professional growth of direct report(s) preferred.
