Director & Counsel, Global Antitrust Legal Team Where great legal minds influence global business strategy. The General Counsel's Organization of American Express is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated and pragmatic antitrust attorney to join its Global Antitrust Legal Team as Director & Counsel. The role will involve supporting a multitude of clients and complex issues.

The role will be primarily advisory in nature, but also involve litigation, transactional, compliance and policy work. Role & Responsibilities: Advise clients on antitrust counseling inquiries spanning all of the Company's business lines on a global basis. Provide lead antitrust support to legal and business colleagues on potential transactions, including assessment and execution of relevant regulatory filings (e.g., HSR), substantive antitrust analysis of the transaction, and counseling on any antitrust issues in due diligence.

Provide support to litigation team on any antitrust-related litigation. Provide support and lead on responses to regulatory investigations. Monitor and report on antitrust law and payments regulation developments for issues that could impact the Company's business.

Coordinate with GCO colleagues and outside counsel and cross-functional teams to ensure the most effective support and relevant expertise is applied to matters. Support identification and implementation of process improvements to streamline antitrust-related processes. Participate in a small team of seasoned attorneys offering thought leadership for antitrust.

Minimum Qualifications: J.D. with admission to practice law in the United States 8+ years of work experience in antitrust law at a law firm, government and/or in-house corporate legal environment. Preferred qualifications: Strong interest and/or experience in all aspects of antitrust law, including compliance, M&A, litigation, and counseling.

Strong interest and/or experience in the payments industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions to novel issues.

Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively, in both written and oral format. Capacity to be agile and pivot appropriately when challenged with new information or evolving circumstances. Excellent collaboration, inter-personal and teamwork skills.

Ability to develop in-depth knowledge of business operations and apply that understanding in furnishing legal advice. Self-motivated, high level of personal energy and commitment. Strong leadership skills, growth mindset and strong customer focus.

Exceptional presentation and drafting skills. Demonstrated experience in gaining credibility, managing expectations, and developing strong working relationships with legal colleagues and clients. Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
