The Direct Support Professional assists in the following areas of personal care and development:
Safety
- Monitors and ensures safety 24/7; this may be eyes-on, one-on-one, 15 or 30 minute checks, etc.
- Supports in crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution.
Community & Relationships
- Establishes collaborative relationships built on trust and empathy through consistent and meaningful communication.
- Supports educational interests and goals.
Activities and Daily Living
- Helps build effective skills for problem-solving, communication, and independence.
- Assists children and youth in identifying and/or participating in social activities.
- Aids clients with activities of daily living (ADL).
Health
- Promotes positive behavior.
- Assists in the implementation of care plans and provides documentation of such.
About you…
- You possess a strong desire to help others with patience, enthusiasm, and dedication.
- You have a passion for working with children and youth living with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and/or behavioral challenges.
- You exhibit trustworthiness and integrity.
- You respect diversity and inclusion.
We are Hopeful you have…
- High school diploma/GED.
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Successful completion the Michigan Central Registry Clearance form and any state in which residence and/or employment was previously established at hire.
- Ability to become certified in CPR/First Aid.
