Job description

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Director, Strategic Risk to drive the maturation of the ERM program by designing, building, and executing on Emerging and Strategic Risk Management frameworks.

This is your opportunity to act as an internal consultant to drive Strategic and Emerging Risk initiatives within ERM and across the company.

As a Director, Strategic Risk, your responsibilities will include:

  • Build a comprehensive program for the effective management of strategic and emerging risks
  • Develop and execute on a defined strategic and emerging risk assessment process
  • Integrate strategic risk management in strategy setting and performance measurement processes across the enterprise
  • Own the organization, content development, and facilitation of the Strategic Risk Forum
  • Interact and present to Senior Leadership and Executive Leadership Groups on a regular basis
  • Propose the enhancement of the development of CNO’s enterprise risk management culture through the alignment of ERM efforts with the strategic objectives of the company
  • Partner with the VP Enterprise Risk Management in coordinating the identification, monitoring, and reporting of key strategic and emerging risks
  • Act as a consultative resource for initiatives such as new product development or acquisitions
  • Present as requested and assist in the development and presentation of ERM materials (e.g. Regulators, Rating Agencies, internal committees)
  • Coordinate strategic points of contact with CNO leadership across all functions (Investments, Product, Valuation, Operations, etc.)
  • Own the reporting and communication of industry developments as well as strategic and emerging risks to Senior Leadership and Executive Leadership Groups
  • Lead multiple business and / or technical working teams (e.g., Investments, Actuarial) to define and deliver complex business solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional team members within the department and across the organization to achieve strategic and emerging risk optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members within ERM and across the enterprise to achieve risk optimization; heavily interfaces with the business and investments
  • Continuously align strategic and emerging risk efforts with business objectives and make recommendations to modify the program to enhance effectiveness and business results.

 

The Director, Strategic Risk position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Possess demonstrated proficiency in ERM and Emerging and Strategic Risk Management.
  • Are highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Hold professional experience directing teams and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels, including the Senior Leadership and Executive Leadership groups.
  • Possess advanced business acumen, ability to have a big picture mindset, and are a motivated self-starter.
  • Successfully balance competing priorities and deliver work under tight timelines.
  • Are an excellent communicator (both oral and written communication) and work effectively with all levels.
  • Have insurance product knowledge and understanding of insurance dynamics.

 

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Total experience 5-10 years.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance industry or consulting.
  • Experience with ERM.

 

This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote.  This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone.  CNO Financial Group offices reopened in April 2022 and is pursuing a hybrid working model.  Associates who live within a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) will have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week.  Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
