Job description

Provide technical leadership and direction for digital transformation projects with focus on implementation of digital processes based on Microsoft Power Tools. To ensure the successful implementation of the Innovation Management Strategy of HP by identification of digital tools to enable advanced technology projects.

The function ensures that the required qualified engineering support and well-founded technical support for internal and external customers is provided in the AMR region through simulation calculations (CAE) for the use of our HPP materials. The job holder acts as a contact person for the CAE area and develops solution concepts for questions and problems for existing and future customers of HPP

Maintain and expand an existing app network to support the administrative processes within the HPP Technical Center Trexlertown, communicate with IT/Digital partners internally (e.g., Digital Labs and Digital GmbH in Marl and China) and externally (e.g., Microsoft and IT system provider). This includes the planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of Digital implementation projects. The position holder will be in contact with (future) users to learn, discuss and educate about digital capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Transformation:

The Digital Transformation Specialist will be part of administrative and application development team. Candidate will gain hands on exposure to regional and global digital initiatives as well as interacting with business and marketing teams.

This position is directly accountable for leading digital initiatives within the Technical Center and supporting the identification of digital tools to further improve the regional Product Development and Application Development team including:

  • Advise, shape and deliver technology led transformation programs aiming to enhance end customers' digital experience
    Lead and manage Digital Implementation projects, especially for application developments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to co-create solutions
  • Participation in discussions with internal users to understand technical requirements and boundary conditions.
  • Build new skills and strengthen the digital expertise of the Technical Center
  • Self-reliant planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of software and app implementation for administrative and technical applications.
  • Creation of compliant, safe, and efficient digital tools.
  • Presentation and training of digital tools in internal project meetings.
  • Coordination of implementation projects with external partners.
  • Research and assessment of state-of-art digital transformation technologies by literature research, participation in conferences, internal workshops and know how platforms.
  • Functional supervision of students and interns.


Simulation calculation (CAE):
  • Design and implementation of CAE calculations for FE process simulation (focus: injection molding; extrusion) with FE program systems (at Evonik HP focus: Moldflow)
  • Pre- and post-processing with the existing program systems
  • Analysis and implementation of reasonable computational boundary conditions for the HP molding materials, corresponding components and processing tools
  • comparison of results with reality; Organization and evaluation of relevant investigations and tests to evaluate and optimize the simulations and material models
  • Evaluation, processing and documentation of the calculation results
  • Participation in development projects within the above-mentioned subject area
  • Communication and discussion of the calculation results with the client or internal and external customers
  • Material data management - preparation and maintenance of the material data required for the simulation calculations (for internal and external customers)
  • Preparation and implementation of training measures for the subject (especially internal training for colleagues
  • Participation in the selection, procurement and maintenance of the required hardware and software to ensure state-of-the-art ability to work
  • Maintaining contact with institutes, hardware and software manufacturers


REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, with a minor in computer science or proven capability in software design or programming
  • General level of understanding in the science of polymers
  • Ability to think innovatively and design and deliver client oriented digital solutions
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to understand their needs
  • Technical understanding of digital customer end-use application processes and application requirements
  • Ability to analyze problems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to balance several projects and investigations, and properly assign priorities to a variety of competing tasks
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of German language is a plus.
  • Knowledge of laboratory tests, analyses, and techniques
  • High degree of initiative, teamwork, and flexibility
