The Sustaining Engineer works closely with internal cross-functional organizations and external customers to generate timely, innovative, and cost-effective solutions to issues preventing fulfillment of aftermarket orders on Collins Aerospace Seating products.

This role is eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan experiments and gathering technical data to support engineering projects.
• Support Material Review Board (MRB) as a representative of the Engineering organization, provide dispositions for non-conforming product.
• Liaise with engineers across the world to gather data, develop solutions, initiate and implement engineering changes.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, SME's, Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Certification Engineers to develop optimized solutions considering numerous design constraints and requirements.
• Present proposed solutions to a broader cross-functional team to solicit feedback.
• Work with compliance teams to ensure engineering solutions comply with regulatory requirements.
• Review and update engineering drawings and BOMs to support spare part production.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback.
• Support continuous improvement activities.
• Perform numerous other tasks to support the department as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
• Strong mechanical design aptitude
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and challenges associated with those processes.
• Ability to work cross-functionally to develop solutions that best serve multiple functional groups.
• Strong knowledge of drawing/modeling requirements and the ability to meet industry standards.
• Knowledge of Seating certification and qualification requirements
• Ability to work with remote resources from varying locations including Philippines and India
• Basic knowledge of material types and their respective properties.
• Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills

• Root Cause Analysis experience
• Experience with MRB (Material Review Board)
• Experience using MRP systems
• Teamcenter and NX 11
• GD&T
