- To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent
- We are looking for a strong candidate to join the exciting Project Design team for Americas as a Design Engineer to assist with engineering and technical design of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure quality, reliability and cost-effective construction and operation of RWE projects.
- Establish and maintain the engineering design criteria, applicable standards and specifications for BESS projects
- Develop reliable and cost-effective customer focused BESS designs in support of the Energy Storage development team
- Be responsible for the development, review and technical oversight of all engineering and design of energy storage projects
- Prepare single-line diagrams (using BlueBeam or similar software) and preliminary project layouts using AutoCAD
- Review/approve the work of consultants used on BESS projects to ensure consistent, cost effective designs and timely delivery
- Support procurement of BESS equipment by maintaining continuous interface with Vendor's technical personnel and performing technical bid evaluation to ensure compliance to specifications
- Provide support to project engineering and construction team to assure timely and cost-effective resolution to regulatory, permitting and technical issues associated with the execution and delivery of BESS projects
- Support system studies of BESS during design and planning and ensure its proper execution during delivery
- Actively support the automation and modelling team in developing tools to improve processes, efficiency and communication
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a US accredited University; Master's or PhD in engineering (preferably electrical) is a plus
- 4+ years of engineering experience in electrical design of renewable generating facilities (solar and storage)
- Proven experience in design and delivery of grid scale storage technology solutions as well as familiarity with tier 1 technology energy storage projects is a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is a plus
- Experience with BlueBeam, AutoCAD required
- Proven expertise in grid codes, PCS and Power Management System & Energy Management system associated with BESS projects
- Experience with ETAP, MATLAB, Homer Pro, PSEE, PSCAD is a plus
- Ability to maintain ownership and take responsibility for all BESS technical issues
- Proactive personality, solution minded and willing to take calculated risks to achieve results
- Ability to discern problems, evaluate alternatives and work with stakeholders to resolve issues
- Ability to effectively interface and interact with various other functional groups in remote/virtual setting, proven team player
