The department head reports directly to the dean. The primary responsibilities of the department head are to teach courses by providing systematically planned and delivered instruction, design and develop curriculum, evaluate personnel and student performance, and to advise students. This position requires a master's degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field from an accredited program and three (3) years of progressively responsible related work experience.
Preferred candidate will have eight years of experience in the hospitality/culinary industry, including prior teaching at the college level.Must have the ability to initiate, develop and direct course curriculum and syllabi. Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE), Management experience industry, curriculum development experience, familiarity/experience in hospitality and culinary preferred. Experience with the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA) and Commission for Accreditation of Hospitality Management Programs (CAHM) is a plus.To be considered for this position applicants MUST complete the online SC State Jobs Employment Application.
