Job Summary:
The NHL is well into a data revolution with the addition of puck and player tracking to the league. With this revolution comes a unique opportunity to join and shape an ongoing paradigm shift. We are looking for a Data Engineer passionate to join and make their mark at VSG & The Tampa Bay Lightning as we pioneer new directions and initiatives.
As a Data Engineer within a DevOps team your main objective is to design, build, and maintain data driven systems. This ranges from data processing, data quality & governance, to data modeling. You will work to ensure that data is available and actionable for our business and operation stakeholders. Working closely with our Software Development Manager and other team members, you will collaborate and contribute your expertise to various business domains and hockey operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines from multiple sources into a data warehouse/data lake.
• Monitor and build QA pipelines to ensure data quality and governance.
• Maintain and build CI/CD pipelines.
• Support and Develop APIs.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code and data quality standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and interns.
• Leverage data warehouse and cloud technologies to solve complex data problems.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
3-5 years experience in data warehousing techniques and methodologies
• 3-5 years experience of SQL/noSQL and data warehouse solutions (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
• 3-5 years experience with AWS - (EC2/ECS, S3, and CloudFront) or comparable cloud services (GCP, Azure, etc.)
• 3-5 years experience in DevOps tools and methodologies, including containerization (Docker and Kubernetes), CI/CD, and orchestration (e.g., Airflow)
• 3-5 years experience in Linux, command-line interfaces (CLI), and Git
• 3-5 years experience of software development with python and strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with developing and using RESTful APIs
• Have and demonstrate a growth mindset with passionate curiosity
