Job duties:
The Data Centre Engineer - North America is responsible for the operational management of the North American Data Centre environment. You will be part of the Global Data Centre team. The successful candidate will be a strong technical lead with excellent Data Centre technical knowledge and proven track record in operating enterprise Data Centre environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that the company's North American Data Centres & co-location and branch office equipment room facilities run smoothly, perform within agreed targets, and provide a secure environment for the company's business operations.
- Responsible for the implementation and connection of Infrastructure devices within the Data Centres & inventory management
- Maintain the relationship, service and contracts with the 3rd party Datacentre providers
- Maintain relationships across technical and project teams within Technology Operations to ensure Data Centre capacity is considered during project development
- Manage access permissions for Data Centre facilities, ensuring compliance with Datacentre and risk management standards.
- Manage Data Centre operational activities, Method Statements and Risk assessments in line with operating and risk management standards.
- Ensure all changes to production follow the TPICAP Permit to Operate process and adhere to Change Control processes
- Resolve incidents, requests and changes in a timely manner, including escalations
- Contribute to knowledge sharing by maintaining accurate documentation and KB articles
- Assist with reporting requirements, including monthly KPI's, performance, and capacity planning
Requirements for the Role:
Technical
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, power management, racking & cabling
- Strong knowledge of Data Centre management tools and asset management
- Working knowledge of IT Infrastructure including network, servers and storage
- Electricity, monitoring, and HVAC systems knowledge
Non-Technical
- Robust appreciation of the impact and risk of changes in a business critical environment
- Eager to learn and to 'roll up sleeves' in a busy environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to articulate technology solutions and challenges
- Demonstrate evidence of well written documentation covering design and run-books
- Complex service delivery experience, preferably in a Multi-Vendor environment.
- A pro-active approach to Service Management, focus on preventative to reactive support.
- Experience
- At least 5 years' experience in a Data Centre engineer role within enterprise environments
- Experience working in Financial Services, either directly or through a service provider
- Knowledge and experience of ITIL working practices, including change management

Salary Range: $85,000 - $93,000
