Company Information

Legend Biotech is a global biotechnology company dedicated to treating, and one day curing, life-threatening diseases. Headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, we are developing advanced cell therapies across a diverse array of technology platforms, including autologous and allogenic chimeric antigen receptor T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell-based immunotherapy.

Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen, one of the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autolecuel (cilta-cel) in 2017. Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Legend Biotech is starting their Summer Internship for the year of 2024! The ITDepartment is seeking a Data Analytics/BusinessIntelligence Intern for a 10-week Internship Program that will run from June 10th, 2024, to August 16th, 2024. We are looking for students or recent grads who are passionate about helping others and building something that matters.

Role Overview

Data Analytics and Business Intelligence with Power BI Skills involves working closely with the data analytics team to analyze and interpret complex data sets. Interns will have the opportunity to utilize their Power BI skills to create visually appealing and insightful reports and dashboards. This role often includes tasks such as gathering and processing large volumes of data, conducting data validation and quality checks, and assisting in the development of data models.

Interns in this role may also be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making processes. Additionally, they may contribute to the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs) and play a crucial role in enhancing data visualization techniques to communicate findings effectively. Overall, the Summer Intern in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence with Power BI Skills gains hands-on experience in leveraging data to drive business strategies and enhance organizational decision-making capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collecting, cleaning, and organizing large datasets from various sources.
  • Use Power BI skills to create dynamic and interactive visualizations that transform raw data into meaningful insights. This involves understanding business requirements, identifying relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), and building robust data models.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to conduct data analysis, providing valuable input into decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data pipelines, ensuring a streamlined flow of information for analytical purposes.
  • Actively participate in team discussions, sharing their findings and insights through clear and concise reporting.
  • Contribute to the improvement of existing processes and methodologies, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of data analytics within the organization.
  • This role provides a unique opportunity for interns to gain practical experience in the entire data analysis lifecycle, from data acquisition and preparation to visualization and communication of results, ultimately contributing to the overall success of data-driven initiatives.

Requirements

  • The incoming intern typically possess a strong educational background in a relevant field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related discipline who is in their bachelor's degree in Junior year or Senior year expected to graduate in May 2024. A current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program is required at least Junior year.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages commonly used in the field, such as SQL, Python, or R, is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.
  • Specific skills in using Power BI for creating interactive dashboards and reports are often a key requirement.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, as interns will be expected to articulate their findings and insights in a clear and comprehensible manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are also valued traits.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts or experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) are highly preferred. Overall, a combination of relevant education, technical skills, and a passion for data analytics are key qualifications for success in this internship role.

Candidates for the Summer Intern role in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence with Power BI Skills should ideally be local to New Jersey, as the position requires them to come onsite at least three days per week. This local requirement is specified to ensure efficient collaboration and communication within the team. Being physically present allows interns to actively engage with team members, participate in meetings, and contribute to collaborative projects more effectively.

In addition to the technical qualifications mentioned earlier, candidates should also consider factors such as their proximity to the workplace when applying for this internship opportunity. Demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to be present on-site as needed reflects a commitment to the team's objectives and fosters a more seamless integration into the collaborative work environment. This local requirement ensures that interns can fully benefit from the in-person interactions and mentorship that are often valuable components of an on-site internship experience.
