Role: Cyber Security Software Engineer
Workplace Type: On-site (Atlanta, GA)
Employment Type: 6-month contract (1099). Potential for extension and/or full-time conversion (W2) thereafter.
Pay Rate: $50-$67 per hour
Comtech is seeking an experienced cyber security software engineer for our client, Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), in Atlanta, GA! You will be helping to fuse carefully designed software with state-of-the-art cyber security and threat-intelligence research to provide support to cyber security researchers, cyber protection/mission teams, threat intelligence analysts, and cyber network operators.
Key Responsibilities:
-Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet requirements.
-Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts.
-Contribute to research reports, white papers, and competitive proposals.
-Create novel cyber-security-technology components and software to ensure that critical systems/information are resilient to cyber exploits and attacks.
-Perform attendant vulnerability assessments, analysis, and software engineering/design.
-Develop hardware and software prototypes and test prototypes in realistic environments.
Required Experience:
-At least two of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Rust, and C languages
-Software development & design patterns, best practices, testing, and debugging
-Computer operating systems
-Familiarity with software development tools and workflows, including source control (e.g., Git)
-Understanding of cybersecurity issues and/or intelligence analysis
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, security, or related field
-The following qualifications are preferred, not required:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Machine Learning tools and techniques
- Designing non-trivial software tools, systems, and frameworks
- Analyzing large datasets and adapting state-of-the-art algorithms/techniques
- Network analysis and/or security best practices and the network stack
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Graph databases and graph algorithms
- Malware analysis
- Hands-on network administration in an IT-type role
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Master's degree or PhD in computer science, security, or related field
Applicant must be a current U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance (non-negotiable). <10% travel required, if hired.
