Job Summary

The Creative Services department is seeking a Senior Creative Designer with advanced-level skills and experience in graphic design. The Senior Creative Designer is responsible for supporting internal and external communications with print and digital design, layout, and data visualization to promote the department's work and services.

The Senior Creative Designer:
  • Works independently and on collaborative teams on assignments which support projects, programs, and business operations.
  • Develops creative visual strategies to specific problems related to issues of moderate scope, complexity, and impact with either internal or external partners.
  • Meets with partners to determine the scope of a project and advise on solutions.
  • Serves as an Organization brand expert, creating branded content, templates as well as alignment with and enforcement of corporate brand guidelines.
  • Participates in planning, conducting, and reporting on projects.
  • Works effectively under pressure with shifting priorities in a deadline sensitive environment.
  • Properly manages and protects official use only (OUO) and classified information.
  • Position requires strong analytical, problem-solving and computer skills, as well as attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising or equivalent field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience creating graphics and other visual assets for digital and print communications
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to corporate brand standards
  • Demonstrated ability to make large or complex information more accessible, understandable and engaging
  • Digital portfolio of work
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance


Preferred Qualifications (Desired)

  • Experience working alongside or directly in an internal creative team or agency environment
  • Demonstrated ability to make large or complex information more accessible, understandable and engaging
  • Experience with custom fabrication and design for display work and signage
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Laboratory's corporate brand standards
  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's review and approval policies and procedures


Job Specifications

The sub-contractor is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with the sub-contractor are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
