South Texas Community Living (including Integrated Community Services and Texas HCS, Inc) is hiring a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee our RNs in 6 cities, 3 local RNs in our N. Houston office and the rest remotely.
Our programs serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes and foster care settings. Our RNs provide nursing services similar to home-health nursing, with some duties and documentation specific to meet the unique requirements of ICF/IID (Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities) and HCS (Home and Community-Based Services Medicaid waiver program) regulations. Our nursing staff, along with the rest of our team members, contribute to promoting the independence of people with disabilities.
Our DON will oversee the delivery of nursing services provided by approximately 12 RN’s statewide that include comprehensive and focused assessments, RN delegation training and competency measurement of specific tasks performed by unlicensed personnel (direct support staff), supervision of a medical clerk, and general nursing quality assurance. The ideal DON candidate will:
- Have experience supervising RN’s.
- Be knowledgeable of ICF’IID and/or HCS services and related regulations in Texas.
- Available to be on call to provide guidance.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Be proficient with electronic systems, including but not limited to Microsoft applications, and be able to learn and train on industry specific Electronic Health Record system.
- Be experienced in recruiting, hiring, and training nurses.
- Be able to provide a high level of quality assurance for nursing services and related documentation, with a fine attention to detail.
- Monitor nurse billing in the HCS program to ensure HCS nurses bill for at least 75% of the hours worked every week.
- Communicate and collaborate with non-nursing management personnel to develop and oversee policies and procedures that will ultimately lead to the highest level of care and satisfaction of the individuals we serve.
- Ability to travel periodically from our North Houston home base to any of our five additional regional offices (Abilene, Beaumont, Harlingen, McAllen, and San Antonio) is preferred.

Qualifications:
- Valid RN License Required
- Valid and current Texas Driver's License
- Clear Background Check
- Clear DMV Check
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Proof of Education
- No confirmation of Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation of an elderly or disabled person
- No history of Medicaid fraud.
- Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (group home experience preferred)
- Strong communication and team-participation skills; friendly, positive attitude.
- General computer skills; be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation.
- Must have excellent time management skills.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- HCS / ICF knowledge preferred.
