Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Therapy, responsible for working collaboratively with the health care team to ensure that both practice and professional standards are identified and maintained in the delivery of patient care, and that determined patient outcomes are achieved. Promote excellence in patient care, while supporting and facilitating professional growth and development, and upholding standards of professionalism. Coordinate staff and students clinical training needs; work in conjunction with the education team to develop materials; conduct training sessions and orientation with staff; and evaluate the effectiveness of the training in support of Respiratory Care objectives in the appropriate areas of care. 

What You Will Do In This Role: 

  • Coordinates in conjunction with the leadership team: respiratory competencies and ongoing education required for unit specific aspects of care.  
  • Assists the Director of Respiratory Therapy with maintaining and developing policies and procedure for the department.  
  • Monitors and assists with the collection, documentation, and reporting of quality assessment and improvement data; extracts pertinent information from quality assessment and improvement studies.  
  • Assists with monitoring the compliance and operation of blood gas analyzers including CAPS accreditation.  
  • Organizes and provides needed training for the Respiratory Therapy Department, Nursing and Physicians as necessary.  
  • Assists in evaluating the department supply needs to reduce unwarranted supplies and find equipment to improve patient care.  
  • Assists the Director of Respiratory Therapy with monitoring compliance with QRS, TJC, and all federal and state regulatory agencies on an ongoing basis.  
  • Serves as the clinical resource expert to the staff.  
  • Represents the department in interdepartmental meetings as needed.  
  • Assists the Director with staffing assignments as needed.  

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Bachelors Degree
