Job description

Eaton's Commercial & Residential Distribution Solutions Division is seeking a Production Technician for its Panelboard / Switchboard Satellite Operation in Phoenix. The position will be based at our Chandler, AZ facility. Compensation ranges $20.00-$22.00 an hour based off of knowledge, experience, education, or specialized training. The hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Position Overview:

The Control Wiring Technician is responsible for a wide range of skills including: wire, assemble, fit and mount sub-assemblies, components, and standard fixed assemblies in electrical control equipment. Perform assembly required for test preparation and final inspection. Use established power checking procedures and equipment to verify electrical/mechanical integrity of units assembled. Perform all assignments within the acceptable quantity and perfect quality requirements in keeping within assigned functions.

In this function you will:
  • Perform wiring of Control panels, Meters and Surge Protection Devices.
  • Proficiently read wiring diagrams and work independently to complete assignment
  • Assemble electrical switchboard equipment
  • Perform assigned function from oral and/or written instructions, drawings, or other manufacturing
  • Maintain quality standards by inspecting and testing finished products to ensure conformance with specifications and codes
  • Maintain expected progress of jobs in area of assignment and communicate problem areas or parts shortages.
  • Handle finished products for shipment; call carriers and load materials into carrier's vehicles as needed.
  • Exhibit teamwork in all you do, maintaining a positive and team-based attitude. Support peers in time of high demand by working hours assigned and overtime as required; also comply with scheduled start/stop times and break periods for the facility
  • Perform other functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or related work environment (mechanical and electrical assembly a plus)
  • Experience using various tools including: manual/electric/pneumatic tools, drill press, press brake, fork truck, jib crane, template/fixtures, hand carts, measuring and testing equipment, storage/packaging materials and prescribed safety equipment

Position Criteria:
  • Must be able to interact and contribute in a small team environment and ability to flex according to production demands
  • Lift 35 lbs on a regular basis
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in all written and verbal formats (speech, writing, reading)
  • Ability to follow manufacturing drawings and instructions
  • Keep yourself and team mates aware of health and safety practices and activities by actively observing fellow employee work practices and incorporating safety
  • Actively participate in health and safety training and demonstrate competency based on training received
