The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.
As a Sr. Mechanical Designer, you will be part of the mechanical engineering team with various assignments by program teams for development of complex mechanical solutions that meet the challenges of a tactical computing environment. Your role will consist of leading mechanical engineering efforts from conceptual phase through production hand off and support. You will be involved with new product designs utilizing CAD and will support the troubleshooting of existing design failures. This is a contract position.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Support the mechanical design of products, systems or subsystems using CAD
- Drive designs from conceptual phase through production hand off
- Conduct basic Tolerance Analysis and utilize GD&T
- Perform and support initial and ongoing design reviews
- Design products to meet harsh environmental requirements; to include shock, vibration, thermal, immersion.
- Develop drawings using ASME standards, including the implementation of GD&T
- Review drawings from team members for accuracy
- Develop BOM's, Engineering Changes, and manage design through configuration management release process
- Associate's degree or its equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Desired that candidate has modular card architecture/design experience
- Proficient with PTC CREO software for mechanical design
- Experience in mechanical design/drafting of electronic packaging
