TITLE:


Content Development Manager (Grant-funded)


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:


Director, AAP National Center on Social Media & Youth Mental Health (GF)


BASIC FUNCTION:


Develop and manage content creation activities for the AAP Center of Excellence: Creating a Healthy Digital Ecosystem for Children and Youth (Center) grant, including development of written materials, management of workplans and timelines; oversight of internal and external partner collaboration efforts; and development of technical content and tools. Advise on and execute Center content strategy, guiding collaborative efforts of internal and external partners to develop a catalog of effective, culturally appropriate, relevant resources for clinicians, educators, parents/families, youth, and youth-serving professionals around the risks and benefits of social media use.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Write, edit, and review new and updated content, including web content, tip sheets, videos, and webinars for a variety of audiences to support social media best practices for youth.

2. Manage and oversee participation in Content Development and review from Center staff teams, as needed, to ensure content aligns with Center framework, evidence based, and other AAP mental and relational health activities, programs, and resources.

3. Work with the Director and other leadership to determine content creation priority and strategy for utilizing Center staff and external partners to develop new and revised content to meet the goals and objectives and deliverables for the Center.

4. Oversee the work of external vendors on content strategy or materials, facilitating internal reviews and providing guidance and direction on process and products.

5. Lead and manage the organization, cataloging, storage, and promotion of educational resources and other tools, overseeing support from grant program managers and other staff as relevant.

6. Manage Content Development workplan, tracking, and achievement of Center goals and objectives.

7. Develop and enhance partnerships with national, regional, and state organizations and their respective constituents and stakeholders.

8. Collaborate in development and drafting of grant proposals, applications, and reports.

9. Attend team meetings, Center events, and conferences as assigned.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:


Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, health policy, health education, health communication, journalism, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.


EXPERIENCE:


At least three years’ experience Content Development required, including writing and editing various materials/resources, preferably with an emphasis on consumer health information. Experience fostering and facilitating partnerships with various partners required. Experience in health education, child or adolescent health, or mental health initiatives; drafting educational resources; and working on grant projects preferred.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS:


Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, organizational, communication, and project management skills required. Must be able to take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage projects within tight deadlines, handle a heavy workload, work both independently and as part of team, think creatively, pay close attention to detail, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with web maintenance software (eg, SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred. Some travel and evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedule to accommodate physicians’ availability.

Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our downtown office in Northwest DC.
