Target hourly hiring pay range: $19.43 - $24.29 per hour

Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Atlanta Postal Credit Union to live out our Mission, “To help our members achieve financial success by providing exceptional products and service.” Utilize good judgment and underwriting skills to quickly evaluate loan applications for risk, approve loan offers which are structured to perform, and meet member needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Deliver outstanding service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with our Service Promises.
  2. Construct and approve loan offers in accordance with delegated approval authority and loan policy.
  3. Utilizes policy and procedure to build performing loans.
  4. Document adverse actions as needed and prepare systems to produce denial letters
  5. Conduct credit analysis on each loan application using automated means; including debt ratio calculation, credit scoring, collateral valuation and other methods deemed necessary.
  6. Comply with all aspects of BSA/AML and OFAC regulations as they relate to this position.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma. Some college work in business or accounting preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in an underwriting environment where performing loan offers are built and approved.
  3. Analytical skills. Working knowledge of credit bureau reports.
  4. Comfort working in a fast-paced call center environment.
  5. Adept at utilizing most current technology and software to approve loans.
  6. Possesses good judgment skills and displays curiosity in attempting to understand “why’s” behind skills and concepts used.
  7. Possesses critical thinking skills and applies learned lending principles according to the unique needs of each member and their risk profile.
  8. Strong commitment to providing excellent member service with a “whatever it takes” attitude.
  9. Possesses innate math skills, with an ability to mentally add, subtract and calculate percentages quickly.
  10. Able to identify and refer cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
  11. Able to construct counter-offers with creative options.
  12. Consistently works well with others in support of departmental and organizational goals, and member needs.
  13. Ability to compose a professional business letter or e-mail.
  14. Excellent computer skills, including:
    1. Proficient in MS Office products, online chat, internet research, and various other online applications.
    2. Ability to create basic formulas and calculations in an Excel spreadsheet.
    3. Thorough knowledge of data processing system relative to lending
  15. Possesses strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  16. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  17. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  18. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas including Truth in Lending, Reg B, Reg Z, and Bank Secrecy Act.
