Construction Cost Analyst - Intern F+G

Our team is growing! The Construction Cost Analyst Assists in the research and development work of the Construction Data Intelligence Group. This group captures industry benchmark data, performs statistical analysis of industry data, and builds conceptual cost models for construction projects
We seek candidates who are passionate about analyzing data to better understand the relationship between building design and construction cost. People studying a broad range of topics including construction management, architecture, engineering, data analysis and other subjects likely have many of the skills we are interested in, though the key thing we want to find is someone that will be highly motivated to help us further our client's knowledge about how their construction costs change as they change the design of their buildings.
Note: This classification is used for college students who are enrolled in a related technical Bachelor's or Master's degree programs at a Junior or Senior academic level and are hired for temporary work during their summer or other school break. There are also opportunities for people to work up to 25 hours per week on a part-time basis during their academic semester times.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Gathers and analyses all cost information and inputs new projects into the database.
- Prepares benchmarking analysis to client to give an early estimate.
- Develops and maintains a historic cost database.
- Establishes a network of office contacts that can provide details of bid projects monthly.
- Designs cost models to display well presented breakdowns of cost information and data.
- Develops parametric cost models to investigate different cost scenarios as size, shape, and function of a building/building element changes
- Supports the update of a series of cost and location indices that in turn will automatically update historic cost information to current date and location.
- Prepares occasional bespoke client reports upon request - varying topics.
- May prepare regular articles of interest in connection with costs within the construction industry e.g., cost of LEED certification, including articles for publications.
- Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
What will you contribute?
- Completion of the first year in a four-year college or university technical program.
- Math skills are generally required. Computer skills required to enter data in spreadsheets or databases. Power BI or other data analysis software skills preferred, but not essential.
