Job Description
Mid-career Configuration/Data Management (CDM) professional experienced with performing the configuration and data management functions on hardware development programs to support the Space Launch System (SLS) Program at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).
This position will perform the Change Package Management (CPM) function utilizing ICE-Windchill, Jira and other Microsoft Office products to process data items and maintain the program technical baseline. This position will provide CDM support as part of the SLS System Engineering and Integration (SE&I) under the Lead Systems Engineer (LSE). Successful implementation requires initiative and flexibility to meet program milestones as well as an understanding of the principals of CDM. The ability to understand the change management process, balance a variety of tasks in an extremely active environment and manage the technical baseline of a large hardware development program are key characteristics of the CPM position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interface with personnel across the SLS Program and Element Offices to provide guidance through the change management process.
- Support the SLS SE&I CDM team with the management of data within ICE-Windchill.
- Perform the Configuration Status Accounting function utilizing a Jira database.
- Work with individual Change Package Engineers to coordinate the review process and to ensure completeness and correctness of their products prior to presentation to the SLS control board(s).
- Understand the impacts of changes to the technical baseline and assist in the integration function between technical disciplines.
- Handle CUI, ITAR and other export control or proprietary data following NASA and MSFC requirements and guidelines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Power Point) is required.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills are required.
- Configuration management, particularly change management, experience is required.
- Ability to obtain clearance/access onsite at NASA MSFC is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently but as a member of a team to accomplish program objectives is desired
- Experience with electronic data management systems is desired. Expertise using ICE-Windchill is preferred.
- Certification in CDM or related field such as the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) Certification is desired.
- Expertise with utilizing JIRA, ACCESS or similar database is desired.
Education and Relevant Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 11 years of applicable CDM experience to include change management, configuration control board, data management and/or configuration status accounting experience is required. Minimum of 14 years' experience if substituting for degree.
