SAI, a growing electronic contract manufacturer located in Carlsbad is seeking an experienced Component Engineer.
The Component Engineer will be responsible for product lifecycle management and work closely with purchasing and engineering departments ensuring the availability of suitable components required to manufacture custom products.
Responsibilities:
- Selects, qualifies, approves, documents, and manages purchased components and direct material required for manufacturing;
- Analyzes and qualifies interchangeable parts from sources outside the organization;
- Finds alternate components for discontinued/obsolete components;
- Maintains great working relationships with vendors and suppliers, including required documentation to support internal and external audits.
Education and/or Experience:
- BS degree in electronics or electrical engineering;
- Experience with writing and reviewing engineering change orders (ECOs) to component-level procurement and test control documents;
- 3+ years’ experience working in an electronic manufacturing environment with PCBA and Wire & Cables;
- Experience working with ERP systems a must and (M1) preferred;
- Results-oriented and customer service drove;
- Ability to effectively communicate, and collaborate with others to achieve company goals;
- A high degree of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and regulatory agencies;
- Experience with supplier selection and supplier performance ratings;
- Experience negotiating pricing, issuing purchase orders, and able to recognize the potential for cost and inventory reductions;
- IPC-A-620 and/or IPC-A-610 certifications desired.
