We are seeking a Driver to join our team! Jackson Pool Surfaces is a construction company focusing on concrete swimming pool renovation & construction services. Centrally located in Grandview, Missouri, we serve the Greater Kansas City area and beyond. JPS is looking for the best candidates for this career opportunity.

Overview:

A designated Driver capable of driving trucks and pulling trailers. A top priority is an ability to drive a 20’ flatbed truck to & from various locations around the Metro area. Occasionally, work will be outside of the Kansas City area to locations ~3-4 hours away. Lodging and per diem are paid accordingly.

As a Driver, the candidate is expected to assist with the delivery, set-up, and breakdown of heavy-duty equipment including hydro-demolition equipment, earth-moving tools, and pumping systems for the application of pool plaster and concrete pumping.

Responsibilities:

• ​​​Daily transportation and proper preparation of equipment for worksites daily
• Daily inspection of assigned vehicle(s) to ensure safe operation
• Learn to perform basic routine and preventative maintenance on equipment
• Maintain OSHA Safety certifications obtained through JPS
• Ensures that assigned tasks are performed safely and with the highest level of quality
• Effectively communicates with the general manager on areas such as safety, quality, and integrity
• Use technology/mobile applications for reporting and collaboration
• Stage and load bagged sand/cement materials onto pallets as needed and onto trucks using forklift
• Learn to operate plaster nozzle to apply pool finishes per the project specifications
• Employee may be expected to perform other duties as assigned

​Job Competencies:

• Ability to work for extended periods of time in extreme temperature environments, as well as prolonged periods of standing and working in such conditions
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with training and standard operating procedures while understanding detailed instructions and directions provided
• Ability to lift, move, and handle up to 50-lb hoses and occasionally up and down multiple flights of stairs
• Ability to perform basic math and to communicate effectively via reading and writing

Working Environment:

• Large industrial tools, cleaning equipment, materials, and machinery used
• May periodically use computers for training purposes
• Working conditions: outside work, extreme temperatures, noisy conditions, flexible schedules
• Travel required: Occasional overnight travel may be required for this position

Basic Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Communicate effectively in English
• Valid United States driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Will be required to obtain Class E license
• Must pass DOT physical annually
• Ability to drive manual shift trucks; back and park 20’ trailers
• Physically able to perform assigned task, including lifting and carrying 75 pounds
• Must use proper company-provided PPE at all times
• Availability from 5am - 7pm Monday-Friday during busy season (April – August)
• Availability to work some Saturdays during busy season (April – August)
• Successfully complete drug screening, pre-employment physical, and all required background checks

Pay Structure:

• Starting rate based on experience, range $18-22/hr
  • Bilingual: +.50/hr
  • Experience with flatbeds: +.50/hr
  • Experience with forklifts: +.50/hr
  • Overtime after 40 hours/week
• Bonus & Raise Considerations
  • Eligible for .50/hr when applicant demonstrates working knowledge of setup, breakdown, and basic maintenance of plaster pump
    • Eligible for .50/hr when applicant can demonstrate working knowledge of setup, breakdown, and basic maintenance of hydro demolition equipment
    • No accidents: $150/180 days
    • No moving violations: $150/180 days
    • Referral bonus: additional hires referred by candidate that remain employed for at least 60 days

Benefits include PTO (Paid Time Off) after 90 days and Sign-on Bonus after 60 days.
