Job Title: Community Policing Advocate

SUMMARY: The Community Policing Advocate provides services to clients and law enforcement through our Law Enforcement Advocacy for Victims (LEAV) program via local police departments. The advocate also has responsibility for recruiting new police departments within the CCSS catchment areas, providing roll calls for them and covering other police departments when their assigned advocates are not available.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Policing and Training
1. Works with Court Advocate Supervisor to develop a plan for recruitment in the short, intermediate and long term based on growth of the program and agency.
2. Recruits new police departments within our catchment area to become partners in our LEAV program, based on plan.
3. Provides outreach to clients through the LEAV program for assigned police departments; provides referrals, assistance, and information.
4. Responsible for primary contact with assigned police departments and maintaining professional, collegial relationships.
5. Provides LEAV presentations at Roll Calls.
6. Facilitates Domestic Violence Training to police officers.
7. Collects and reports monthly, bi-annual and annual LEAV statistics.
8. Completes and mails all bi-annual LEAV report letters to partner police departments.
9. Plans and implements training and educational programs for police, judges and states attorneys; networks with other agencies.
10. Facilitates Legal Support Group, Legal Issues and Legal Topics sessions of the 40 hour Domestic Violence Training at CCSS, and other trainings as assigned.
Events
1. Coordinates the annual National Night Out activities in which CCSS participates.
2. Signs CCSS up for NNO for all municipal areas in which we are participating.
3. Prepares individual outreach materials for each engagement, including, tablecloths, handouts, CCSS materials, etc.
4. With Director of Support Services, assigns court advocates and recruits volunteers and other staff to participate, as needed.
5. Attends NNO and travels to multiple sites to oversee.
6. Collects and collates statistics for NNO, as assigned.
7. Participates in other events related to court advocacy/Community Policing as assigned.
Organizational/Administrative responsibilities
1. Attends Court Advocacy staff meetings and any other meetings at the request of the Director.
2. Completes paperwork necessary to the position in a timely manner, client paperwork must be turned in on a weekly basis.
3. Maintains CCSS policies and procedures.
4. Adheres to court etiquette and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
5. Knowledgeable of Illinois Domestic Violence Act
6. Other duties as assigned


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
KPI | EVIDENCE
Works with Supervisor to create plan for police department recruitment. Plan will be created with targeted PDs for the short, intermediate and long term growth of the department and agency.
Recruit PDs according to the plan. PDs will become partners with CCSS in the LEAV program.
Conduct Roll Call presentations and trainings for PDs. Roll Calls and P.O. trainings will be conducted according to directions.
Plan and execute NNO per Supervisor plan.
Ensure client files are in compliance with CCSS and funder guidelines. Review of PQI outcomes, independent file reviews and supervisor observation.
Complete all service documentation and turn in to data entry on a weekly basis. Review of contact documentation turned into data entry on a weekly basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education Required: Associates Degree, Valid Drivers License
Experience Required: 1 year experience working with families in crisis. Experience working with DV Victims. Project Management and personal workflow skills. Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Credentialing Required:
X 40 Hour DV Training
o PAIP Certification
o Sexual Assault Certified
o ICDVP Certification

Commitment to non-violence within families and homes
Problem Solver, team member and sound judgement
Must have the ability to create a comprehensive plan and follow through on each detail.
