EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Able to read and write in English. Computer literacy required to operate email, internet, MS word and office and Agency operational software. Knowledgeable of addiction issues.

EXPERIENCE: Two-year experience working with clients / patients in the healthcare settings, providing care and orientation of services preferred.

SPECIAL CLIENT-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS: Capable of working effectively in a self-directed role, able to multi-task and problem-solve. Each job responsibility and competency measurement include the following requirements: the ability to coordinate work of others, able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks while dealing with clients, able to appropriately manage clients? behaviors and motivate them to follow treatment protocols and schedules. Ability to work independently and under supervision, Ability to communicate effectively with all clients from adult age to geriatric, co-worker face to face and in group setting. Telephone etiquette.

ESENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Comply and abide with the agency?s Code of Ethics.
  2. Adhere to applicable laws, regulations and agency policies governing alcohol and other drug abuse services.
  3. Interact with the clients in an appropriate therapeutic manner.
  4. Intervene when a crisis arises and find a logical solution to the problem according to policy and procedures.
  5. Communicate with colleagues via shift reports regarding incidents, updates, concerns, etc. on a daily basis.
  6. Become familiarized with written procedures and binders with instructions and sample step by step guides for reporting to and compliance with DOC and DMHAS.
  7. Attend to and intervene in a moment of crisis, followed by the notification and reporting to appropriate authorities according to the program?s procedures.
  8. Document all services (Recreation, Didactic Groups, NA/AA meetings, Morning Meeting, phone calls, and case management) provided to the client clearly and appropriately.
  9. Keep all records up-to-date and compliant in designated place to ensure safety and confidentiality.
  10. Consult with the Director whenever you recognize issues that are beyond your base of knowledge and skills. In the absence of the Director, consult with the Assistant Director
  11. Provide Didactic and Orientation educational groups to clients and document them in the electronic health record.
  12. Client Supervision and Support: Actively monitor the facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  13. Transport clients, as necessary.
  14. When driving an agency car inspect if for safety, fill the mileage log, ensure that it is kept clean and refrain from smoking while in it. Operation of the company vehicles should be conducted in a safe manner adhering to New Jersey vehicle operation laws.
  15. Maintain high visibility in client areas to provide supervision and structure.
  16. Complete daily shift report upon the end of the work shift.
  17. Foster a community environment.
  18. Provide direct supervision and support to clients on unit.
  19. Supervise clients in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the facility.
  20. Assist clients in attaining internal structure by strictly following established schedule.
  21. Implement daily activity schedule, ensure all activities are conducted on time and supervised. Report any deviations to Director and Assistant Director
  22. Supervise clients while they self-administer their medication as assigned.
  23. Know the total number of clients on the unit, their names, and their room assignments.
  24. Welcome new clients on their first day, introduce yourself and inform them of your role.
  25. Complete rounds of unit every 30 minutes and ensure that all clients are accounted for.
  26. Have thorough knowledge of CURA, Inc. policy and procedures and Client Handbook and enforce all rules and rights therein.
  27. Enforce CURA, Inc. Policy and Procedures at all times.
  28. Ensure Policy and Procedures for Critical Incident reports is followed when indicated.
  29. Ensure clients attend Outside Appointments (OSA?s) on time and that a person search is facilitated upon their departure and return according to policy and procedures and document findings accordingly.
  30. Supervise clients daily house/ground keeping tasks.
  31. Facilitate and supervise meal movements and recreation.
  32. Facilitate medication monitoring and report medication deviation or refusal.
  33. Be physically capable of operating company vehicles and possess a driver?s license.
  34. Conduct multiple daily checks of clients? rooms and all other areas to ensure cleanliness and order. A record of the daily checks is to be recorded and submitted to the management.
  35. Complete unit and building safety inspections, emergency drills, and maintain accurate documentation. The reports should be submitted to management.
  36. Report and investigate any damage to client rooms, furniture, and common areas.
  37. Complete CURA, Inc. Relias trainings
  38. Notify the kitchen in advance of all activities that require changing a mealtime or increase/reduce the number of meals needed.
  39. Notify the kitchen in advance of OSA?s that will need a food tray.
  40. Document and inform the clinical staff of any behavioral issues and/or interventions with clients.
  41. Attend client interventions, case conferences, and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) as needed.
  42. Ensure daily tasks are completed before the end of the shift.
  43. Follow Electronic Health Record (EHR) policy.
  44. Facilitate peer led groups and activities.
  45. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients, employers, and staff.
  46. Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills with clients, employers, and staff.
  47. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, talk, and listen in various location withing the Agency at noisy environment for extended periods of time. The employee will be required to move around the premises periodically. The employee must have the ability to operate a personal computer and can express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to lift or move 5 to 35 pounds items by him / herself. Mental requirements include the ability to read, write, concentrate, reason, analyze, evaluate, problem solve, multi-task and perform mathematical calculations

WORKING CONDITIONS: The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate with multiple individuals working and conversing, business office with computer printer, and light traffic. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
