Job Title: Civil-Structural Engineer
Work Location: Huntsville, AL
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Civil/site engineering and design for government buildings, test stands, recreational facilities, roadways, parking lots, laboratory facilities, etc.
- Perform tasks in surveying, mapping, drainage calculations, and/or other areas related to civil engineering.
- Assisting in preparing preliminary information and specifications for plans
- Develop facilities design criteria statements, defining and confirming requirements.
- Exercise judgment in developing details of work for making preliminary designs and adapting them to meet Customer requirements.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and submittal schedules.
- Provide engineering support during construction phase of design projects.
- Support project cost estimators in the development of construction estimates.
- Assist client project managers as needed during progress of construction, re-modeling, and repair projects.
- Compile information for plans, as-builts and final plats
- Coordinate work requirements under the guidance of the Discipline Design Team Lead and follow through until the total design requirements are clearly defined and implemented.
- Continue development leading to becoming a project lead for designs involving other facilities design disciplines.
- Effectively interact with government clients associated with NASA MSFC facilities, and support various engineering, construction, and maintenance activities.
- Perform assignments designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
- Work under supervision/guidance of a senior-level team member
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Four years of experience in engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
- Army Corp of Engineering (USACE) or other federal project experience, preferred
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation is a plus
- Experience and/or completed coursework in land surveying is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
