Job Description

The Childcare Supervisor will provide quality childcare services for the children of healthcare employees. They will care for children 0-5 years old. The Childcare Provider is responsible for creating the schedule and overseeing other childcare providers. They will assist the HR Director with administrative duties such as licensing, certification, provider education, and budgeting.



Duties

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children.
  • Recognize and report child abuse and neglect specific to Oregon’s mandatory reporting laws.
  • Responsible for ensuring enrollment capacity is maintained.
  • Maintain the schedule of childcare providers to meet employee-to-child ratios.
  • Post the employee's schedule at least 45 days before the effective date.
  • Observe and monitor child play activities, wellness, and behavior.
  • Ensure prompt seclusion and notification to parents for pick-up of children who appear unwell.
  • Communicate with parents or guardians of children about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
  • Support emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Support children in keeping good hygiene and other healthy personal habits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Infant and Child CPR and First Aid are required.
  • A current Food Handler’s Certification is required.
  • Must complete at least 2 hours of training on child abuse and neglect.
  • Office of Child Care approved safe sleep training required.
  • Must have competence, sound judgment, and self-control in working with children.
  • Be mentally, physically, and emotionally capable of performing duties related to child care.
  • Must meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • One year of qualifying teaching experience other than registered family care or
    • One-year successful operation as a certified family child care home or
    • 30 quarter or 20-semester credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or
    • Attain Step 8 in the Oregon Registry

Work Environment

This position is part of the Childcare Department and reports directly to our Childcare Director. This job operates in a home-based care environment. This role routinely uses standard home-type appliances and office equipment such as refrigerators, stoves/ovens, microwaves, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
