Summary:

JFS is looking for a board certified or board eligible compassionate child and adolescent psychiatrist to offer clinical services to youth 18 years and under. It is a flexible, mostly telehealth position to provide care for youth in JFS outpatient psychiatry program. The psychiatrist will perform initial diagnostic evaluation and follow up for medication management for variety of pediatric mental health conditions including ADHD, depression, anxiety, autism, PTSD etc. Youth treated in the outpatient psychiatry program are also eligible for therapy services and case management through various clinical programs. The psychiatrist provides telehealth and/or in-person diagnostic, medication, therapeutic and management of services for children and adolescents in need of psychiatric treatment. As part of a clinical team, the psychiatrist addresses emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and Autism, allowing children to continue on their developmental path. The psychiatrist performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow up as indicated for medication management and monitoring in the outpatient setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations
  • Makes diagnoses and prescribes therapy and/or medication, as necessary and appropriate
  • Provides timely clinical documentation
  • Confers with clients and clients’ caregivers regarding evidence-based diagnoses and treatment
  • Participates in staff conferences and recommends appropriate treatment approaches
  • Collaborates and consults with clinic staff
  • Assists with establishing psychiatric programs and policies
  • Keeps medical records according to licensing, insurance and funder requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May serve as a liaison or consultant to community organizations and schools
  • Demonstrates teamwork and support of the JFS mission and values
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned
  • Complies with all JFS policies and standards

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Medical Degree/DO or equivalent, with successful completion of general psychiatry residency followed by child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship
  • Work Experience: Experience directly related to the delivery of psychiatric care for children and adolescents

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry; and clinic organization, management, and procedures
  • Skillfully diagnose and treat children and adolescents with mental health needs
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Learn and utilize EMR and JFS client databases
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Maintain objectivity and confidentiality

Licenses, Certifications and Professional Affiliations:

Possession of an unrestricted medical license in the state of Missouri. Paneled on Medicaid.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in person in an office environment and remotely.

Physical Demands:

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Travel:

There may be some travel within the community for meetings. Access to private transportation is required.
