Chief Operating Officer

South Dakota Urban Indian Health is seeking a full-time Chief Operating Officerat our Sioux Falls, SD location.

ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA URBAN INDIAN HEALTH

The South Dakota Urban Indian Health, Inc. (SDUIH) is a non-profit corporation that consists of two full-time primary care clinics. SDUIH is a comprehensive patient-focused health care organization. SDUIH corporate headquarters is located in Pierre and the agency reports to the Indian Health Service (IHS) in Aberdeen.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER POSITION:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the day-to-day operations of SDUIH, focusing on operational processes, managing resources, and fine-tuning work flows to ensure the internal organizational aspects are running smoothly. Additionally, this position will focus on building and fostering a collaborative, positive workplace culture by directly overseeing and managing the Human Resources program of SDUIH. This new position was created to meet the needs of a fast-growing team and fill out the Leadership team to address the needs unique to an Indigenous organization. We are looking for someone to take on the "people" side of this organization, assist with internal operations, and allow the CEO to continue enacting the Board's strategic plan and vision. The COO and CEO will share direct supervision of the C-Suite and Department Leads to work with them to maintain person-centered care at all SDUIH facilities, while following accreditation guidelines. This position will supervise at least 7 individuals. In the absence of the CEO, the COO will act in their place.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated supervision experience.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, specifically in Human Resources, Management, Accounting, Payroll, Billing/Coding, or leadership position.
  • Established work with the Native communities.
  • Pass a federal background check. Must not have any felony convictions as related to the Indian Child Welfare Act.
  • Provide Indian Preference documentation if claimed.
  • Must be vaccinated against or willing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Must be CPR certified or willing to obtain CPR certifications within 6 months of employment.
