Job Description
Eco Endeavors connects guests and residents in the area to different exceptional outdoor adventure based activities. Our in-house services include small boat adventure tours of the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife refuge. Our captains specialize in providing laid back, eco-light educational tours that showcase to visitors and locals alike the beauty and importance of the 10k Islands through mindful and respectful viewing of wildlife and responsible shell collecting.
Primary Duties:
-Safely operate and facilitate an eco tour aboard a Coast Guard Inspected 2790 Custom Carolina Skiff (LOA 28 ft) (Maximum 12 passengers per trip)
-Ensure passenger safety throughout boat tour
-Maintain competent operation and handling of vessel at all times including but not limited to docking, anchoring, and beaching procedures
-Provide upbeat commentary and information to guest about local wildlife and area throughout trip, answer any questions, address concerns
-Be able to properly “read” and communicate to groups to fit the desires/energy of each group
-Communicate, direct, and work well with crew onboard (Groups of more than 6 passengers will require a mate onboard in addition to captain)
-Communicate well with supervisors, storefront personnel, as well as shuttle driver as needed
-Respectfully view wildlife
-Check in with guest at beach stop
-Complete both opening and closing duties including set up of boat, and breakdown/clean up at end of day
-Perform light maintenance
****Captain is encouraged to have fun with crew onboard, but is solely responsible for all souls onboard and must have awareness and knowledge on how to handle emergency situations to above all, maintain the safety of said passengers and integrity of the vessel.****
