Pay range: $28-$40

A local company accepts applications for a Quality Inspector at its Structural Steel Division. The individual must be proficient in reading shop detail drawings and be able to use all standard measuring equipment. Mag Particle, Ultrasonic Test, paint thickness & holiday painting. This is a fast-paced environment and requires the individual to be on the shop floor for most of the shift to inspect weldments quality and painting as per specifications. Accreditation as CWI is required. NACE certification is a definite plus. We offer a generous benefits package including health, dental, 401k, and paid vacations and holidays.

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Maintain proper Quality Control records by filling out reports for components by inspecting as follows:

1.1. Inspection at fit-up; ensuring proper fit-up and noting the actual product’s dimensions on the drawings

1.2. Inspection of welding by ensuring an outcome of good-looking welds and conformance with the AWS D1.1 and D1.5 and any other pertaining welding codes, checking for size and undercut, etc.

1.3. Inspection of proper machining

1.4. Inspection before/after shot blasting: ensure that parts are properly protected (tape some areas where required) as per NACE or SSPC. Proper testing as required.

1.5. Inspection after shot blasting: ensure that the blast job meets our specifications and that all areas are properly shot blasted as per NACE or SSPC. Proper testing as required.

1.6. Inspection after painting for thickness, holidays, and cleanness. No missing paint or foreign objects are trapped in the paint as per NACE or SSPC. Proper testing as required.

1.7. Inspection after assembly: ensure all surfaces look new and adequately protected

1.8. Inspection, when product is loaded for shipping: product should be properly protected and tarped to ensure that arrival to destination is in good condition

1.9. Coordinate and perform NDT testing UT, VT, MP, and PT as applicable to each part.

1.10. Organize and Inspect materials coming in and/or workstation.

1.11. Use the proper welding wire on each job and store the wire properly packaged.
