Job Summary and Qualifications

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), under the general supervision of the occupational therapist, is responsible for the treatment of a wide variety of patients, including, but not limited to patients with: neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and other medical conditions in the areas of acute, subacute, rehabilitation and out patient physical therapy.

The COTA is responsible for the development and implementation of occupational therapy treatment procedures, modalities, therapeutic exercise and feeding program implementation and treatment. The COTA must treat patients in accordance with the rules and regulations of this facility, and the State of Nevada, Board of Professional Regulations. The COTA must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and interpret data reflective of the patients’ medical status and age specific needs, in order to provide the appropriate care, as described in the department’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• One (1) or more years of practice as a COTA preferred. Exceptional new graduates will be considered.
• Graduate of an AOTCB—approved occupational therapy assistant education program; successful completion of Level II Fieldwork experience; successful completion of the certification process for Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Current AOTA certification; State of Nevada licensure
