The Madigan OB/GYN is a diverse and dynamic team offering the full spectrum of women's healthcare services to beneficiaries. Services include but are not limited to; well woman checks, contraceptive education and placement, complete obstetric care, and specialty services such as Gynecology-Oncology, and Uro-Gynecology. Practical Nurses are vital members of the team in all areas, interacting with patients and establishing that important care relationship from the first greeting. - Interview and measure vitals of patients (i.e., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, pain, height, weight, allergies, primary complaint, etc.)
- Prepare patients and rooms for examinations and diagnostic tests.
- Conduct routine procedures, such as throat and wound cultures, dressing changes, blood pressure screenings, ear irrigations, suture removal, and application of various supporting bandages and splints.
- Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) on patients, to include repositioning, bathing, oral care and all other basic patient needs.
- Assist patient care providers during examinations, procedures, treatments and diagnostic tests.
- Record data on clinical records and chart patient information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Nursing Assistant:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or above) in nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility, or in such work as that of a home health aid that included experience in: obtaining vital signs, maintaining patient medical records/charts, and explaining instructions or answering questions for patients and/or staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Completion of at least a four-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field of study.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
