Overview
This position is an entry-level member of the patient's healthcare team at the Orange County Correctional Facility that will be assisting with patient care, inmates with ADLs and provides support to clinics. Provides care to multiple patients at the same time in a correctional environment.
Direct supervision is received from the Nursing Unit Supervisor who evaluates performance through observation, discussion, and review of reports and inspections.
Representative Duties
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
Assists with direct patient care, such as obtaining vital signs, wound care, collecting blood, urine sputum and stool specimens.
Performs routine procedures under established protocols to include phlebotomy, EKG's, intramuscular injections, etc.
Assists infirmary patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
Aides the health care provider with procedures.
Accurately documents all data obtained, treatments, specimens collected and sent for processing as well as any other patient encounter.
Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of Vocational Training in the Nursing Assistant program. Required to obtain and possess a current license in the State of Florida as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Preferences
Previous experience in a correctional, nursing home or other inpatient setting.

Educational Requirements
