Certified Medical Assistant
Bainbridge, GA | Temp to Perm | $15.00 - $20.00 / Hour (Based on Experience)
A doctor's office is looking for a certified medical assistant or licensed practical nurse to help with wellness checks, sick checks, and minor procedures. You will be expected to take ownership of your position, completing tasks in a timely manner and treating each client with specialized care.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate patient and doctor appointments
- Assist doctors and nurse practitioners with examination, treatments, special tests, and procedures
- Review patient charts, check in patients, obtain and record patient’s weights, blood pressure, urine samples, blood samples, and medical history
- Assess reasons for patient visits
- Record and report observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patients’ conditions
- Perform a variety of pre-examination work on patients
- Transport patients to and from vehicles via wheelchairs
- Administer medication and apply sterile dressings
- Maintain and stock inventory and clinical supplies as needed
- Educate patients regarding health-related issues
- Coordinate labeling, delivery, and receipt of laboratory specimens and results
- Provide information and coordinate follow up visits regarding laboratory results
- Conduct a minimum of 10 weekly chart audits
- Documents QI indicators in E-Clinical.
- Coordinate referrals and transportation to these appointments if needed
- Arrange appointments for radiology test and procedures
- Monitors and maintains GRITS inventory. Performs monthly inventory count and submits to VFC
- Supervise and delegate duties to MA and CNA
- Delegate absentees' routine tasks to others
- Perform telephone triage and assess patient problems and act accordingly to written protocols
- Answer nurse calls and respond to patient inquiries regarding prescriptions, lab results
- Monitor and maintain AED, crash cart and O2. Document in crash cart log.
- Screen provider phone calls from hospital, nursing home and other affiliates if provider is in room with a patient
- Process pharmacy prior authorizations
- Practice safety, environmental, and infection control methods
- Additional duties as requested by the supervisor
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- CMA Certification
- CPR Certification
- Stericycle Training
- (Preferred) 1 year of GRITS and EPSDT
- (Preferred) 1 year of medical office work
- Meet competencies for:
- CLIA Labs
- In-Office Procedures
- EMR Documentation
- Immunizations and Injections
- QI Documentation
- Infection Control
Requirements
- Be able to lift and move 25 pounds
- A clean drug screen and a clean drug screen
- Communicate effectively and clearly
- Walk, bend, stoop, and reach
- Handle patient care charts and patient histories
- Know clinical and surgical operations and documentation
- A clean background check
- Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and services ordering and inventory control
- Ability to safely lift and move patients
- Knowledge of procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids
- Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments
- Stand for the entirety of the shift
- Know patient evaluation and triage procedures
- Have a dependable vehicle
- Wear and maintain PPE including scrubs and closed toed shoes
Location: Bainbridge, Georgia
Pay Rate: $15.00 - $20.00 / Hour - Based on Experience
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
