Job Overview

Summary/Objective
The Cash Receipts Clerk is responsible for the overall cash management of the dealerships. Obtains, enters and maintains financial data and accounting records by performing the following duties in accordance with company policy and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Receives cash, verifies amount from cashiers and sales and finance departments
  • Prepares cash deposit forms and arranges for deposit in accordance with company policy
  • Works with other members of the Accounting department to ensure that all cash deposits are account for and processed correctly
  • Manages cash drawer process, ensures that bills and change are available for all cash drawers on a daily basis
  • Requests additional cash from Supervisors as required for cash drawers
  • Coordinates audits and inspections of cash drawers at request of Supervisors
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records as requested
  • Maintains accounting data and records by making copies and filing documents
  • Maintains accounting data and records by entering data into the computer programs and processing backups
  • Determines management and quality requirements by asking questions and listening
  • Maintains a follow-up system that encourages follow through with assigned projects
  • Establishes personal performance goals that are consistent with company standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals
  • Understands the terminology of the business and keeps abreast of technology changes
  • Knows and understands the federal, state and local requirements which govern the company's business
  • Understands and follows work rules and procedures
  • Follows lawful directions from supervisors
  • Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
  • Attends company meetings as required
  • Works evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area in accordance with company policy
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • Able to use computer and demonstrate proficiency with 10-Key Machine
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet company's production and quality standards
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and works well in a team environment


Work Environment / Physical Demands

Light Work- lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time and/or frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
This position requires long periods of sitting and could from time to time have extended walking or standing

This position involves repetitive motion
This position requires the ability to talk and hear

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Standard Business Hours with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required

Required Education and Experience
Associate degree or equivalent; and six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education and Experience
Two to four year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
