POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to improve product availability and internal workflow to meet customer requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS
- Negotiates requirements for pre-production samples, spare parts, customized technical literature, and patent or royalty protection
- Keeps abreast of market and product developments and interviews representatives for potential new sources of supply
- May represent the department at Production, Engineering and Sales meetings as required
- Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Processes requisitions for supplies, researches products, clarify specifications, and documents competitive bidding, enters purchase orders
- Maintains an up-to-date filing system on pricing and vendors to ensure immediate and accurate access to information
- Searches out alternate vendors or supplies during periods of shortages or stockouts
- Knowledge of basic typing skills with emphasis on accuracy, legal aspects of purchasing, and basic purchasing terminology
- Deployment of Purchase orders based on MRP demand and inventory levels including maintaining purchased orders
- Production Planning, Work Order Deployment based on MRP requirements, and NPI/Prototype demand, quoting as required
- Follow up on back orders, expedite delivery of orders when necessary, communicate expected delivery to departments and update information in the system. Report key delivery issues to the Materials Manager, Sales Team, and Production Manager
- Monitors and maintains inventory within the budget and inventory turnover rate
- Maintain product forecast using seasonal trends, sales history, SIOP and sales forecast
- Perform Material Planning for the facility to ensure goods come in to each facility in an efficient and economical manner
- Working with suppliers to ensure that correct priorities are understood and adhered to
- Assist with Supplier Sourcing and review of Performance Metrics
- Process NCMR (Nonconformance Material Report) for Return to Vendor or Scrap on Site through AS400
- Manage time to ensure tasks are completed on schedule
- Maintains accurate data in purchasing module in the AS400
- Special Purchasing project task
- Adapt to the fast-paced working environment necessary for the market demands
- Detail-oriented, 10 key and knowledgeable of Microsoft Excel
- Complies with established ISO Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION | CERTIFICATION | EXPERIENCE)
- Degree in Business Administration or related field: Preferred
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, listening)
- General PC skills with MS Office software knowledge at basic/intermediate/advanced level
- Specific software or technical skills
- Ability to create and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and coworkers
- Ability to create and maintain record retention and retrieval systems appropriate for the position
- Years of experience in a related field: 4-7
