Job description

CompanyFederal Reserve Bank of Boston

As part of the Central Bank of the United States, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston works to promote sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation, and to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the country’s financial system. The Bank’s Real Estate Services Group (RESG) contributes to this mission by managing and maintaining the Bank’s real estate and related assets, and providing both Bank staff and prestigious tenant firms with timely, effective, and cost-efficient building services through best business practices and innovative technology. RESG staff run the gamut from building engineers to space designers, project managers to business analysts. We believe our employees are our greatest asset.

We offer an enviable employee value proposition: in compensation; a comprehensive benefits package; a fully-funded pension plan and a 401k match, as well as tuition reimbursement and free membership in our state-of-the-art onsite fitness facility.

Job Summary

The Business Relationship Specialist (BRS) plays an important role within RESG, with a broad span of influence across all department responsibilities. Reporting to the Director of Business Services and Compliance, the BRS maintains RESG’s relationships with building occupants (including both tenant and Bank populations), works closely with Department senior management to operationalize initiatives across building programs and services, and manages internal and external department communications.

The BRS serves as the primary point of contact for our prestigious tenant firms, and makes strategic and operational decisions independently, exercising considerable judgment. The BRS manages multiple complex projects and participates on relevant System groups and with outside organizations and represents RESG on a range of Bank initiatives. The BRS collaborates extensively with RESG managers and across Bank departments and facilitates and communicates RESG activities internally and externally. The BRS interacts regularly with people at all levels of the organization, our tenant firms, and external contacts, representing RESG as a professional partner.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage RESG’s relationship with all building occupants; communicate and promote RESG activities.
  • Resolve complex issues and service concerns for Bank and tenant stakeholders, as well as for key RESG and cross-department special projects; ensure that expectations are properly set and objectives are met.
  • Support RESG’s Leasing Program: coordinate building tours, Open House and realtor showcases.
  • Develop marketing materials for written and online collateral and onsite exhibit.
  • Develop and implement creative, effective communication strategies for achievement of RESG goals and objectives, and to promote RESG as an integral support service; strategically manage communications to Bank and Tenant staff via multiple channels on critical department information.
  • Develop employee engagement campaigns and compose department news stories for The Commons; manage all website content for federalreserveplaza.com and all RESG-related content for The Commons.
  • Proactively communicate department news to RESG staff.
  • Identify and implement amenities and innovative solutions designed to maximize stakeholder satisfaction among both Bank and tenant population.
  • Participate in strategically important RESG projects, and represent RESG in special initiatives related to the Bank’s High Priority Objectives.
  • Provide direction to staff members on RESG standards and tenant needs to ensure that response and services are aligned with department goals and are executed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Identify and analyze financial and logistical feasibility of proposed building services and amenities to align RESG service offerings, increase revenues, and provide cost-effective solutions, and make recommendations to management to maintain the Class A building level experience.

This position is required to be primarily onsite, with some flexibility.

Other Accountabilities

Supervision

This position is not required to directly supervise others, although the Business Relationship Specialist serves as Team Lead on strategic projects and supervises staff as assigned.

Professional designation, an advanced degree (MBA or a related discipline) and other advanced training a plus.

  • Demonstrable ability to think strategically and implement programs effectively; must possess highly developed critical thinking, a high degree of creativity, nimbleness, and responsiveness, and the ability to propose and implement innovative solutions.
  • Must be results-driven, with the ability to identify, plan and pursue multiple, complex initiatives simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities and deliver superior results on time with minimal supervision; excellent time management and organization skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills; must be committed to keeping abreast of evolving communications technologies and platforms and a continuous program of professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, sound organizational awareness, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the Bank, the System and externally.
