Job Description
Foster Garvey PC, one of the Pacific Northwest's leading law firms, is seeking a Business Development Manager in Seattle. This role works closely with the Director of Business Development to establish and execute practice and industry plans, programs, and activities supporting each group's growth. The BD Manager builds strong relationships with Practice Group Leaders, Industry Group Leaders, and Principals across the firm to foster a culture of proactive business development. Working cohesively with a proactive Marketing team, the role will support a dynamic and entrepreneurial firm with an enviable client list. The ideal candidate is an energetic and motivated individual with a proven track record of business development experience (pursuits, account management, client planning and training). Experience from the legal sector or wider professional services firms is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Business Development strategy and planning
o Liaise with Practice Group and Industry Group Leaders to identify priority areas for growth and plan and execute associated deliverables.
o Act as a trusted advisor to Group Leaders in shaping strategic priorities and building a sustainable business development culture.
o Coach individual attorneys to support their personal BD goals.
o Establish reports, milestones, and suitable metrics for monitoring the execution of strategic goals and own the creation of quarterly reports.
o Develop new opportunities to increase the visibility of individual attorneys and practice groups
- Pursuits and Proposal Management
o Write, develop and submit compliant, high-quality proposals within client-defined timeframes.
o Manage the pitch lifecycle and own the attorney relationships throughout the process.
- Implement improvements to existing processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain the experience database.
- Help with the opportunity qualification process by researching clients and industries to understand key priorities and win themes, documenting the key considerations/ rationale for decisions, and communicating the outputs of the qualification discussion.
- Develop and maintain a proposal response plan, including scheduling and conducting proposal kick-off meetings.
- Content delivery
o Develop strategic multi-channel content aligned to the Business Development plans
o Plan and execute campaigns (collaborating with colleagues from the Marketing team as required).
o Develop targeted collateral to market core service lines and industry expertise (capability statements, presentations, and other client communications).
o Work closely with the Communications Manager on website-related topics, managing content, and raising awareness through the firm's social channels
o Develop practice and industry submissions for directories, databases, and other publications.
- Client relationship/key account management:
o Develop and demonstrate a strong understanding of major clients within the firm.
o Identify client growth potential and take a leadership role in executing associated plans.
o Share client service best practices and cross-serving opportunities among practice and industry teams.
- Events and partnerships
o Collaborate with key stakeholders to manage and execute strategic partnerships, events, and client conferences.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years' of marketing and business development experience in a similar position.
- Previous experience working within a Legal/Professional Services firm is required.
Salary Range
The pay range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 + annually; however, actual pay may vary depending on the candidate's education, training, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
