The Bilingual (Spanish) Clinical Educator/ALS will provide education to patients and their caregivers about ALS, a new ALS therapy, and the pharmaceutical company's patient access program. The educator will provide ongoing patient education and therapy support to the patient, their caregiver, and support network. The ALS clinical educator must also effectively interact with the sales, reimbursement, and other corporate support personnel as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Travel weekly (potentially nationwide) to conduct education to patients and caregivers about ALS, a new ALS treatment option, and the pharmaceutical company's patient access program
- Manage multiple patients in queue to conduct initial welcome call, schedule live visits, and provide telephonic follow-up calls
- Assist Clinical Educators in high volume areas with patients in queue to deliver education
- Responsible for delivering on pre-approved curriculum within multiple formats including live, virtual, and telephonic to patients and caregivers
- Understand and support patient/caregiver opt in, support processes, and strategies that help the patient comply with their prescribed treatment as identified by the HCP
- Conduct individual patient sessions to help the patient better understand their disease state, specifically in relation to the prescribed therapy, as patients start-and more importantly, stay-on their prescribed therapeutic regimen
- Explain medical treatment process, provide product management education, identify, and recommend company-approved patient/caregiver educational materials
- Advise client management on industry insights and innovative approaches to training curriculum
- Schedule activities, conduct trainings and submit completed documentation to VMS in a timely manner
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with all VMS, client, and industry mandated rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Licensed healthcare professional
- Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred
Required License and/or credentials:
- RN, NP, or PA
Required Skills:
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Licensed healthcare professional (minimum RN) with background in chronic conditions, neurological conditions, movement disorders (ex: Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, ALS, Alzheimer's)
- HCP and/or Patient education experience, including infusion or injection experience required
- Compassion, high emotional intelligence, and a passion to be a patient educator
- Strong communication and written skills to a variety of audiences, and experience working with a treatment team
- Proven adaptability to changing business demands and problem solving in a fast paced environment
- Competent and comfortable utilizing technology, including tablets, mobile apps, projectors, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Experience working for or contracting with pharmaceutical preferred
- Must not be excluded, sanctioned, or debarred from participation in federal healthcare programs or in federal procurement or non-procurement programs
Travel:
- Some overnight travel will be required (likely two overnights per week).
