The Parent Advocate will provide parent support exclusively to DCFS clients. Duties include: affirming parenting skills and 1:1 coaching; help parents/caregivers or legal guardians structure positive time with their child(ren); plan affirming family activities; complete reports/maintain records; provide advocacy services, model effective communication/problem solving skills and link families to P & A resources.
WHAT THE HELP GROUP IS LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or a related field preferred. Candidates that are actively enrolled in undergraduate coursework will also be considered.
- Qualifying candidates must have had former personal experience interacting with county systems such as: DCFS, DMH, Foster Care, Child Protective Services, Probation Department, Regional Center, Welfare Services, CalWorks, or similar services (either themselves or with youth under their care).
- Candidate must possess a CA driver’s license with a clean driving record and insurance.
